Chand Bhangal (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary creative who is passionate about decolonization, cultural preservation, and authentic representation. As a Punjabi-Canadian woman, she is deeply committed to preserving historical and cultural textile traditions, specializing in Phulkari embroidery, derived from the words phul (flower) and kari (work), Phulkari is a traditional South Asian craft passed down through generations of women.

Bhangal’s work aims to revive Phulkari in a contemporary way by embedding her lived experiences as a Punjabi-Canadian woman into her creative practice. Through this, she encourages meaningful dialogue about the future of South Asian textiles and fashion.

Bhangal currently specializes in Phulkari embroidery. Phulkari is an ancestral form of embroidery passed down through generations of women in families. Its primary motifs are floral designs that represent life, growth, prosperity, blessings, and the resilience of Punjabi women.
