creative journey

Bhangal stumbled upon Phulkari in the Fall of 2024 while doing research about The Partition of India. She has been experimenting with this embroidery form since then.

Bhangal has developed a signature style that is present in all her works. Her pieces feature motifs such as flowers, petals, diamonds, miniature dots, and lines.

nazar butti

There’s a practice called Nazar Butti, which is an intentional mistake made to ward off the nazar (evil eye), and this subtle flaw appears in most of Bhangal’s creations, some are visibly evident while others are discrete.

artistic vision

Bhangal considers herself a contemporary artist since she is using traditional techniques but her designs include an element of storytelling to reflect her lived experiences as a Punjabi-Canadian woman.
